21st - 25th July 2008 Warwick University Conference Centre,

Coventry, United Kingdom

In today’s knowledge economy sustainable competitive advantage resides, not in the organization’s physical or financial assets, but in the collective skills, knowledge and attributes of its employees.  Nevertheless, recent global research has established that human capital, the skills and knowledge of employees, too often remains an untapped performance lever.

The purpose of this symposium is to discuss ways of managing and developing Human Capital within the context of the challenges facing the ICT sector today.  Related topics to be covered during the symposium are:

  • The Policy and Regulatory Challenges

  • ICT applications and  their impact on the Human Capital

  • Technology Trends and related HR requirements

  • Knowledge Transfer

  • Strategic HR Management

Each day of the programme will focus on one of these aspects, scheduling presentations and working groups, and allowing Telecom/ICT managers to reflect and discuss the topics they themselves consider priorities.  On the last morning of the symposium, the participants will have the opportunity to discuss, define work plans and coordinate potential collaboration.

This Global Symposium is a high level global event that will attract quality speakers and top representatives from the telecom/ICT market, to share their knowledge and experiences on Human Capital development and Strategic HR Management.  The presentations and subsequent working group discussions will be rich with experiences and practices from around the world.

The symposium will be conducted in English.  Interpretation into other working languages of the ITU will be provided depending on the confirmed number of participants from the different linguistic communities.

Who should attend?

The symposium is primarily intended for senior Human Resource Management and Development Professionals in the Telecom/ICT sector (from government, regulators, operators, and manufacturers) who are directly concerned with the acquisition, retention and development of human capital in their respective organisations.  The candidates should also be involved in the development and/or implementation of their organisation’s strategic objectives.
